Cuminum cyminum

Cumin seeds

Known here as Jeeru. Unjha is where most of India's cumin changes hands, and our office is inside that market. If you buy cumin anywhere in the world, this is where its price is decided.

About this product

How we buy it

We buy cumin lot by lot through the arrival season, then clean it to whatever your contract asks for. Buyers care about two things above all: how clean it arrives and how much aroma is left when it reaches the mill. Both depend on which lot you start with, not on how hard it is cleaned afterwards. Tell us the end use and we will point you at the right lot rather than the cheapest one, and explain the price difference.

Typical uses

Ground masala blends, seasoning oils, ready meals, snack seasoning, bakery, and extraction of cumin oil and oleoresin.

Supplied as

WholeGround to your mesh

We grind to order rather than hold powder in stock, so it reaches you fresh. Tell us the mesh you work to.

HS code

0909 31 29Whole, other than of seed quality
0909 32 00Crushed or ground

Black cumin sits under 0909 31 19 instead. Lots bought for sowing take the “of seed quality” codes, 0909 31 21 and 0909 31 11.

What to send us

Four lines is enough

  • Quantity you are looking at
  • Packing you want it in
  • Destination port
  • Any specification your side works to

Specification, tolerance and packing are agreed in the contract for each shipment rather than fixed on a web page — the right answer changes with your end use, the season and your destination.

Before it ships

Cleaned, checked and documented

Samples are drawn when the lot comes in, and again from the finished goods before your container is loaded — so what you approved is what sails. Third-party inspection is arranged whenever you ask for it, and you get photographs of the loaded container either way.
